Dear Friends, Writers and Readers,
My husband and a friend gifted us with a hotel room in central Barcelona–and its Christmas tree was decorated with writing! I hope that’s a harbinger of the year to come, for me and for you.
Several of you have told me how much you missed hearing about memoir writing from my blog, Best Book Ever. The old gal is slowing down her online presence…Thanks to you, I’m getting more referrals so that marketing is less of a priority for the one-woman band of Perfect Memoirs. I do miss the workshops and presentations and seeing you face to face, and plan to start that up in my new home cities.
Meanwhile, Happy Holidays, whatever your holiday may be, and warm memories, and more creative writing to you all.
We have spent the year bouncing around between the Yucatan, Nashville, Asheville and Barcelona. We hav made our new home in El Prat de Llobregat, a small town near the Barcelona (Spain) airport, the beach, the river delta park, the mountains, 5 bus stops and a Metro stop. No more car accidents in Nashville traffic. And surprise! Our new hometown strongly supports the arts, building recording studios that are rented at way below market rates. Heard a contralto singing karaoke Christmas songs on the street, and a 10-piece female wood and brass band outdoors for free this week.
And when in the States, we’re basing out of Asheville, North Carolina. We were so at home in Music City and will treasure our friends there, while making new ones in the city by the French Broad River with its many artists and (YAY) bluegrass musicians. I can’t wait to hear the life stories of people in my new milieus.
My husband and I each had some health issues in 2022. But we’re much better now, thank you. I know a lot more about the brain as a result of my 3 concussions this year! Talk about walking into doors…
My wonderful clients have been patient and given me some meaningful work. Several books were finished and privately printed for families, and several more are in the works. Thank you! Meanwhile I have begun my own writing again, a memoir with the working title of The Experiment, about my years from 15 – 25 in the 1970s.
But the best time is now. Happy in the Now says one of Emily Henry’s romantic characters… Wishing you all the best now and in 2023, and let me know how you are, too.
