Welcome to Point of View, my blog about memoir and writing. If you’re a yearning blogger, there’s some real experts available in Nashville. A year or so ago, I attended a Blogging Basics class with Tracy Lucas. I learned a lot about the necessary technology and the marketing. I also learned that learning doesn’t have to be sanctioned by a university if credit is not an issue. This year, I’m learning about French film’s impact on American film through a class at Osher Institute. The first class reminded me that darkness in the human condition needs the light of art shed upon it. And that’s what great filmmakers, photographers, painters, sculptors, and WRITERS do.
Meanwhile, the Blogger coaches are at it again. Here’s what I’ve heard from Tracy:
We both enjoyed the experience so much and got such good feedback,we decided to do this as a business. We’re calling it Inkwell Basics, and we’re adding in brand new topics as we go. Our first event will be on Saturday, January 25th, at Atmalogy in Nashville, and we would love to see you there. The cost is $50. Class size is limited. This two-hour intensive will be a group brainstorming session where we talk about how to find, connect with, and keep readers, and how to know what to write about in the first place. You’ll hear tips and tricks from us, but then also dig deep into why you, personally, are blogging at all — and what your readers will naturally expect from you.
